The streets are a joy to wander through, lined with immaculately landscaped gardens, 19th century mansions, and beautiful coastal homes. Go Coastal Holidays offer entire home experiences in our vacation rentals. Properties with everything from a fantastic kitchen, to a garden and terrace for enjoying home cooked meals and sunsets, comfy beds, lounges and free internet to keep the family entertained.

Beaches:

Due to the narrow width of Portsea, all holiday rentals are walking distance to both bay and ocean beaches (it takes less than half an hour to walk from one side to the other), as well as abutting the national park, making a Portsea holiday the ideal location for guests who love to walk and swim.

Shopping:

The closest place to shop for groceries is Sorrento IGA and Scicluna’s Fresh Fruit and Veg on Sorrento main street along Ocean Beach Road where you’ll also find everything from a pharmacy to designer clothing. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes in Portsea to dine in or take away. We recommend checking out Essence Food for the Soul across from Portsea Pier – they make excellent take home meals including quiches, pies, soups, curries and desserts.

How do you get to Portsea?

Arriving at Airport:

It is possible to hire a car from either Tullamarine or Avalon Airport. Don’t forget to book ahead of time! We recommend Kangaroo Rentals. It is also possible to hire a car once you get to the Peninsula: Avis Car Hire in Rosebud is the closest place.

Quickest Route by Car:

Portsea is a breeze to get to by car from Melbourne. The quickest way (approx 1.5 hours) is to take the M11 (Mornington Peninsula Freeway). The freeway ends at a roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Jetty Rd. Turn left at Eastbourne Rd which takes you to Point Nepean Highway and the sparkling waters of the bay. Take a left on the highway and follow the shoreline all the way to Portsea.

Scenic Route by Car:

You can also take a scenic route out of Melbourne along the bay on State Route 33, then exit onto State Route 3 (Nepean Highway) and follow it until the Tyabb Rd exit (C782). Follow Tyabb to the end and then turn left onto Point Nepean Highway (C783).

Public Transport:

It is possible to get to Portsea from Melbourne via a train and then a bus. Take the train to Frankston and then the 788 bus from Frankston to Portsea. To view a map of the bus route follow this link. To get around the peninsula, see the public transport routes by following the link: public transport.

Taxis and Ubers:

Its easy to catch a taxi from Melbourne to Portsea but they are less available for getting around the peninsula than they are in the city.
